Important Information About Diabetes:
The discovery of Diabetes can be traced back to as early as the ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and India. It literally means, "to dissipate the extra sweet urine".
In the healthy bodies, carbohydrate can be quickly converted into glucose which is the "fuel" for all activities. However, in order for glucose to become energy, they need to enter the cells. This process needs the coordination of insulin which is excreted from the pancreas. If for some reason the pancreas cannot excrete enough insulin, the glucose will have to remain in the blood. Thus the blood glucose density will rise to an abnormal high level. This syndrome is called hyperglycemia. Diabetes is thus formed.
Base on the most recent standard, if a person's blood glucose level stays above 110 before meals or above 140 after meals, then he can be diagnosed Diabetes. There are some easily identifiable symptoms associated with Diabetes, such as frequent fatigues, numb and weak limbs, rapid weight loss, eyesight loss, blurring eyesight, skin diseases, etc.
Conventional Diabetes management strategies usually target the blood glucose level. In some severe situations, insulin injection is needed. These measures do not cure the origin of the disease but the symptoms only. Even worse, most patients who use these therapies are usually deficient in nutrients. The dilemma is what makes the prevailing treatments little effective towards Diabetes: on one hand we have the high glucose level that restricts patients' nutrients intake, on the other hand, these people are really the ones who need them the most.
There are many existing alternative treatments, among them the Chinese herbal therapy stands out. Compared with conventional therapies, Chinese herbal medicine takes a different approach toward Diabetes, but it does not repel conventional therapies as most people believed. Instead, it is a good complement to the conventional therapies. A modern consensus has been reached in the medical world: more and more doctors and patients have agreed that it is better NOT to cure Diabetes by controlling the nutrient intake. Conventional medicine lowers the glucose level, thus effectively containing the development of Diabetes; Chinese herbal therapies target the origin of this disease instead. The origin of Diabetes is the insufficient insulin excretion, which is caused by the functional disorder of the pancreas. Chinese herbal therapies start from this point, trying to restore the disorder insulin excretion. If the insulin excretion goes back to the normal state, then Diabetes will be treated fundamentally. This viewpoint is consistent with the principle of Chinese herbal therapies¡Xtargeting the disordered insulin excretion.
Diabetes is a tough disease to battle; however with the combination of traditional medicine and Chinese herbal therapies, we have seen some very promising progress towards success. A tremendous amount of human resources and capital have been poured into the research of diabetes' cure. And alternative medicine therapies, especially Chinese herbal therapies, may be the next breakthrough in this endeavor.
